Shakura

The world is full of stories. And all stories have heroes, some supernatural, some real. But what if I told you the story that doesn’t have a hero?

I have been visiting the Modern Bazaar every afternoon for the past couple of months. The routine is simple, I head straight to the beverages section, do a deep scan of all the shelves, hunting for one perfect drink, zero-in on the target, re-scan for better prospects, zero-in again and finally after much permutation and combination, I pick up one drink, get it billed and walk out. This age-old, tried and tested formula has been very efficient for me in ensuring that I find something really worth trying every single time, something uncommon among the common folk, something that requires daring (yes, that was a Sacred Games reference)

However, this one particular drink managed to hide in plain sight for a very long time. In a world full of Aryas’ and Sansas’, Shakura is the Jon Snow, the outcome of an illegitimate and highly secretive relationship between the Red Bull and Monster Energy. The reason why Shakura has evaded my attention for so long is simple - It knows nothing. Neither about packaging, nor about marketing. Day in, day out, it just sits there, like Bran, waiting for a night king as me to arrive. Make no mistake, Shakura tastes wonderful. But unless one is willing to go out of ways and give it a try, the design is bound to doze you off.
